Growing Yourself

“Father, as I reflect on these quotes and the thoughts or feelings they bring to mind, I ask you to strengthen my heart to hear You first and move forward in one way or another by the power of Your grace.  In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!” ~ Lee Wise

“Growing Yourself” — what a handful of a topic, right?  Whether talking about passion, purpose, mission, or personal growth in any dimension… the thought of “growing yourself” can usher in a number of wild and wonderful — or wildly disturbing — thoughts.

Take myself for instance.  I easily can scan down these quotes that I have created and think: “Okay, Lee, you wrote it: now, how are you doing here?”

In other words, a measure of self evaluation or self affirmation can take place as you read. You may vividly see yourself in these short musings or you might see who you would like to become!

Relative to either of those possibilities, my quick suggestion for you is this:

Read simply.
Read reflectively.
And read “forward.”

By “forward” I mean this: no matter what side of the proverbial fence you straddle relative to how a quote touches your heart, take a small step forward.  Make an “in the moment” advance that is meaningful to you.

  • In the moment — right now or a soon as possible.
  • Advance — positive, forward motion.
  • Meaningful — touching who you are and who you desire to become.

Following about a three year search for God, Lee trusted Christ as Savior in 1967 as young Marine. He has served as an outreach pastor and a church planter. The Lord also led him to serve as the Director of Internships at Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, PA where he served for over 20 years. Lee loves to write, has a strong desire to be a positive influence for Christ in our world, and is passionate about family. And speaking of family, he and his wife Sherry (who served as a Director of Elementary Education for many years and recently retired) praise the Lord for being married 44 years, their 3 daughters and son-laws, and 7 grandchildren! Lee and Sherry would say: "We've been abundantly blessed."
